Finished in rare blue back aluminum with black "shadow waves", predating the development of the shadow wave finish in the South Bend line. This 11 1/4" by 1 3/4" Teaser is stenciled boldly on the back ZANE GREY TEASER and is in exceptional store new condition, including the original No. 981 Oreno-Teaser hang tag. This incredible lure comes in the factory tissue paper and its crisp, correct 1916 Patent marked 981Z box, just as it was sent from the factory. To our knowledge, no other of this combination exists in this condition. Gifted to Zane Grey from South Bend. This and all items included in this historic find come with a letter of provenance stating this bait came directly from Zane Grey's personal steamer trunk #44, which accompanied him on his 1939 trip to Australia.
