Large and important Newcomb carved and painted scenic vase done in 1918 by Anna Frances Simpson. Pictured are tall cypress trees laden with Spanish moss with a full moon hiding behind one of the boughs. Cypress knees and saw palmetto grow between the trees along the bank of a bayou . Marks include the impressed Newcomb logo, shape number 232, date code for 1918 (JF 90), JM for potter Joseph Meyer and the incised monogram of the artist. Height 13 7/8 inches. Deeply carved with subtle coloring.

Excellent original condition.
